Beijing Kawin Bio-Tech Co., Ltd. (Kawin Bio-Tech), namely National Engineering Research Center for Viral Bio-Technology (NERC-VBT), was applied by the Ministry of Health and approved by State Development and Reform Commission. Founded in 1999, Kawin Bio-Tech is the first national engineering center in the field of viral bio-technology. It occupies an area of 16,000 m2 on the main street of Beijing BDA, known as the “Pharmaceutical Valley”, with building area up to 14,000 m2.

The mission of NERC-VBT is to provide biotechnology medicines, vaccines, diagnostic reagents against common diseases, frequently encountered diseases, difficult and complicated diseases; to work out generic technologies (such as culture, fermentation and fermentation) for industrialization of genetic engineering medicines, and finally carry out technology integration; and to provide service for the development of genetic engineering industry and people’s health. It also enjoys strong technical support from State Key Laboratory of Viral Genetic Engineering and Institute for Viral Disease Control under China CDC.

Director of NERC-VBT is held by Dr.Yunde Hou. As a biological expert, he was appointed the chief scientist for 3 consecutive years of 863 National High-tech Development Plan.

Based on bio-tech engineering research, NERC-VBT integrates all the processes from the development of novel biopharmaceuticals to pilot production and industrialization. So far it has established Jindike Bio-tech Institute (including four laboratory), one pilot production workshop confirming to WHO GMP requirements, one bacteria engineering industrialization workshop confirming to FDA GMP requirements. Undertaking several National 863 and 11th Five-Year Plan key projects (including novel drug R&D and prevention & cure of serious infectious diseases), it has become a R&D and pilot production base for biopharmaceuticals with international level.

As the first national demonstrated center in China, NERC-VBT is willing to work with companies & organizations at home and abroad, to promote the industrialization level of bio-technology and therefore provide better safeguard for the human being’s health.
