The 10th Life Science Annual Conference was held in Beijing on April 15th 2010, which was hosted by Beijing Science and Technology Committee. The theme of this conference is “Translational medicine: the integration and innovation of medical resources”. Dr. Yunde Hou, the director of National Engineering Research Center for Viral Bio-technology (NERC-VBT) made a special speech, which topic is “The research direction of Medical Virology in the future from current development of translational medicine”, and provided guiding discourses upon the reseach of translational medicine in the field of virus infection.

NERC-VBT has been insisting on applying the advanced theory of translational medicine as the theoretical guidance for new drug development. NERC-VBT established direct contacts of fundamental research, clinical application and industrialization, thus successfully developed many new drugs including rh-interferon in pre-filled syringe, interferon effervescent tablets, etc., and widely approved by doctors and patients in clinical applications.

The progress symposia of important science & technology special themes on “The prevention and cure of serious infectious diseases such as AIDs and viral hepatitis” was held on April 13th, 2010 in Beijing. All themes undertook organizations made reports on research progress about the themes they undertook. Dr. Yunde Hou presided the conference and made an import speech. He pointed out: The prevention and cure of serious infection diseases such as AIDs and Viral Hepatitis is an import affair related to the national health, our government takes it seriously, and all the organizations should speed up the researches.
